This has been a busy fall for DRS grant competitions, and new activity continues on grants.gov. Here, we recap all of the moving pieces as we head into the new year.

Grant Competitions Recently Closed: This fall’s largest round of DRS competitions closed on December 14, 2023. A majority of the 30 Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) that were released on October 12 had proposals due last week and applicants now await review and notification.

Currently Open Grant Competitions: Two NOFOs are open, with applications due at the end of January 2024. Open competitions are listed below. The NOFOs have slightly different due dates – January 26 and January 29, 2024.

Early Head Start Expansion and Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership Grants – Brooklyn, Kings County, and the Bronx, New York (due January 26, 2024)

  • $6,161,948
  • Estimated number of awards: 2

Head Start/Early Head Start Recipient – Communities in the state of New York (due January 29, 2024)

  • $55,703,462
  • Estimated number of awards: 18

Forecasted Grants / Coming Soon: As we recently highlighted, four new Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) were forecasted on December 8. Two additional NOFOs were forecasted on December 19. Competitions funded under these NOFOs are expected to open on January 24, 2024 and the estimated due date for applications is March 26, 2024.

All of the forecasted NOFOs are listed below with the estimated funding amount and number of awards. Detailed lists of service areas up for competition will be posted on the Office of Head Start Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) Locator, though as of the publishing of this blog post (December 20), this information is not yet available.
