On April 10, 2012, the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) reported that the Office of Head Start now anticipates releasing 200 RFPs for re-designated grants in mid-April.

Some legislators had been contacted by worried constituents so HHS staff was on hand to assure them that:

  • No – Head Start service for children and families isn’t about to stop, but
  • Yes – specific service providers/grantees might change.

This is the first published report that we’ve seen about when the RFPs might come out.  It seems consistent with the widespread speculation in the field, doesn’t it?

Today is April 12.  Very close to mid-April.  We must be getting close.

Thank you.
