This week, there was new activity on grants.gov as an additional DRS grant opportunity was forecasted. The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), however, is on a different timeline than the 30 active NOFOs that were published in October. Here’s what you need to know.

The new forecast is for Early Head Start Expansion and Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership Grants – Brooklyn, Kings County, and the Bronx, New York. The estimated total funding is $6,161,948 and the expected number of awards is two.

The NOFO for this grant competition is expected to post to grants.gov on November 13, 2023, and applications will be due January 17, 2023. This timeline, which crosses multiple holidays, might be challenging for some programs. We encourage you explore strategies for managing DRS through the holidays.

Its’s unclear if more DRS NOFOs will be released alongside this opportunity in New York. Currently, there are three other DRS forecasts on grants.gov – for communities in California, Florida, and Tennessee – but these have not been updated since July and the estimated posting date for these NOFOs has passed.

If your program anticipates competing in DRS this fall but a NOFO has not yet been forecasted or posted, keep a close eye on grants.gov. We will also highlight any changes to forecasts or NOFOs here. Stay tuned!

Foundations for Families offers a variety of Consulting Services to support programs in DRS. If your program has the capacity to write its own grant application but needs help with the timeline, template, and process, consider Foundations for Families’ DRS Toolkit. Please be in touch to learn more. We would be glad to talk with you about your program’s needs.
