If you’re an Early Head Start – Child Care Partnership (EHS-CCP) grantee, you might find yourself asking a question that we’ve been hearing from others… How do the new Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) impact the duration of services offered at EHS-CCP sites? The Office of Head Start (OHS) provided a response to this question.

On Wednesday’s OHS Head Start Program Performance Standards Talk webcast this question was raised (note: the webcast was recorded and is expected to be posted on ECLKC). The bottom line is this – EHS-CCP grantees negotiated and were awarded funds to implement services for a certain number of hours per day. For some programs that may be up to 10 hours per day. If EHS-CCP grantees were awarded funds to implement programs with duration of services greater than what is required in the new HSPPS, the EHS-CCP commitment supersedes the new HSPPS. In other words, you can’t lessen the number of hours that services are provided at EHS-CCP sites due to the requirements in the new HSPPS.

As mentioned in last week’s blog post, the new HSPPS will apply to all EHS-CCP sites. We’re curious to hear about your journey toward implementation with child care partners! As we learn new information from OHS about the intersection of the new standards with EHS-CCP we will share it here.

Thank you.
