It has been quiet on the DRS front from the Office of Head Start (OHS), but could that be changing soon?

Back in December 2016 there were 12 Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA) posted for programs to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start services in communities where the current grant was up for re-competition (DRS Round 5). Proposals were due in February 2017. If the timeline for awards from Round 5 follows that of previous rounds of re-competition, then we might be learning of the Round 5 winners soon! Certainly as soon as we learn that information we’ll be sure to post it here.

As we mentioned in a blog post last month, we haven’t heard for sure when the Round 6 cohort of grantees required to compete for funds will be named. But, we did see the release of the National CLASS Data 2016, and this could be a sign that Round 6 is approaching. Remember, low CLASS scores is one of the triggers for DRS so OHS now has part of the equation to determine the Round 6 cohort. As we’ve come to learn, the turnaround time for HS/EHS proposals is usually pretty tight. It will be interesting to see when the grants are forecasted and if and how DRS Round 6 fits into the summer ahead!

Although it has been quiet in the DRS world, we continue to keep it top of mind. Check back here for DRS updates, and as soon as we learn anything new we will share it with you!

Thank you.
