Next week marks the start of the 44th Annual National Head Start Conference and Expo, which runs from April 7-10, 2017 in Chicago. Amy Augenblick, Executive Director at Foundations for Families, will be presenting a session specifically targeted to Early Head Start – Child Care Partnership (EHS-CCP) grantees.

On Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 11:00am-12:00pm Amy will present Project Success Through Improved Fiscal Skills of EHS-CCP Partners: A Fiscal Approach and Strategies. In this session Amy will discuss how partnering with child care programs and family child care providers challenges the traditional EHS approach. The workshop will explore child care partners’ fiscal reality and business conditions that undermine program quality and financial health. Participants will hear about fiscal lessons learned by EHS-CCP Round 1 grantees and partners. Participants will also learn strategies to close the cost of quality gap, foster sustainable program quality and achieve business viability. The workshop will include real examples and time for questions and answers.

In advance of attending the conference we recommend you explore the searchable database of conference sessions. Make a game plan to ensure you attend sessions that are of greatest interest to you. There are many interesting sessions to choose from on a wide range of topics!

We hope to see many of you at the conference next week! “Foundations for Families provided invaluable and top-shelf quality 12-month strategic guidance in all areas of launching our new EHS-CCP grant, particularly in the context of being a brand-new Head Start grantee. I honestly don’t know if we would have succeeded through the start up period without their week to week, month to month goal setting, tactical guidance, and tools, as well as their recommendations for program and fiscal design changes that proved pivotal to the viability of this expansive 12-county, multiple child care partner program. It was hugely complex to get the program into place from facilities to staffing to contracts to governance.”
