Yesterday, the third round of Early Head Start – Child Care Partnership (EHS-CCP) grants was forecasted on grants.gov. We had been hearing that the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) would be released in November, and it looks like that will hold true. Less than one week from today, November 1, the FOA is expected post. Even more interesting, the due date is December 4, 2018. This is a turnaround time of 4.5 weeks.

If you’re surprised at the timeline, you’re not alone! A 4-week turnaround hasn’t been typical for Head Start/Early Head Start grants. For a grant like this, there is usually an 8-week turnaround. More than ever, it will be important to be laser focused on the application development timeline. We’re curious to see if there is any reduction in the application requirements from the prior rounds of EHS-CCP. Possible, but perhaps unlikely!

Here’s what the forecast says about the timeline:

  • FOA released: November 1, 2018
  • Applications due: December 4, 2018
  • Award date: March 1, 2019
  • Start date: March 15, 2019

The forecast notes that the expected number of awards is 60. There is $140,000,000 available for EHS-CCP grants.

As soon as we see the FOA go live we will let you know, and we’ll help to analyze the FOA for any differences from round 2.

Thank you.
