This is the second of four 2020 quarterly status updates about the Early Head Start Expansion and Early Head Start – Child Care Partnership (EHS-CCP) initiative. Learn about the timing of the upcoming grant competition and resources to prepare.

Round 4 FOA was forecasted, and is now delayed. In May, the fourth round of EHS Expansion and EHS-CCP was forecasted for a June 10threlease of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). The FOA did not post to grants.gov and the forecast has not been updated. To ensure you don’t miss any updates to the forecast, or to receive a notification when the FOA posts, consider signing up for alerts through grants.gov (Manage Subscriptions).

Delayed FOA creates opportunity for continued planning. With the release of the FOA delayed, the time can continue to be used for program design and proposal planning. Consider convening your planning team to check in on schedules and timelines, such as when Board and Policy Council meet during the summer and when you can seek approval for the application for funding. Make note of team members’ summer schedules to ensure drafting and internal reviews are aligned with individuals’ availability.

New resources provide strategies for developing partnerships and addressing barriers to implementation. Child Trends recently released a series of briefs for EHS-CCP grantees and potential applicants on some of the key aspects of planning and implementation. These materials could be useful for programs that are considering modifications to their EHS-CCP approach or who might be considering partnership for the first time. Here are a few of the new resources available:

The upcoming round of DRS will include EHS Expansion and EHS-CCP grantees. As mentioned in the last quarterly status update, we expect that the next round of DRS (Round 9) will include some EHS Expansion and EHS-CCP grantees. If your program anticipates having to compete for funding in DRS, we encourage you to follow our DRS Updates blog for the most up-to-date information. DRS Round 9 has not been forecasted; it is expected this fall.

Foundations for Families has grant writing assistance for programs applying for EHS Expansion and EHS-CCP grants, including our Toolkit, Quality Assurance Review and Grants.gov Submission Support. Please contact us to learn more about how we can support your program to submit a competitive application for funding.
