An additional 22 grants have been added to the list of grants forecasted as part of the seventh round of Designation Renewal System (DRS). These additional grant competitions were added to grants.gov on August 2, 2018, bringing the total number of forecasted Head Start/Early Head Start grants to 135. A full list of open competitions is available here.

The Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) for the added grants are expected to post on September 19, 2018 and proposals will be due November 20, 2018. This is the same timeline as the DRS grants that were already forecasted.

Most of the DRS round 7 forecasts – 107 out of 135 – are for “Head Start and/or Early Head Start” grants. There are a few, however, that are for one or the other. Two of the forecasts are for Early Head Start only. Twenty-six of the forecasts are for Head Start only (2 of which are Migrant and Seasonal).

With this recent activity on grants.gov, we wonder if even more forecasts will be added. In DRS round 6 (for which competitions closed in April 2018), there were changes to the list of forecasted grants as close to the FOA posting data as 1-week prior. The release of the FOAs was also delayed multiple times. We haven’t seen any indication of delays with DRS round 7 yet, so all signs point to the September 19th release date, as anticipated
